1. The Social Order under the Shang Dynasty: Nobles, artisans, farmers, then slaves
2. Liu Bang was the first common person to become emperor (not of the noble class)

Thank you for booking a Tuesday visit to the Getty Villa.  As you may know, the Museum is closed to the public on Tuesdays.  Schools that visit for Guided Lessons on that day will be able to enjoy quiet galleries without crowds.  When you arrive, your class will be divided into smaller groups of 10-15 students, and each will be led by a docent guide and accompanied by a security guard so that they can access the galleries.
 
Please be aware that there are a few differences between coming on a Tuesday and on other days of the week when we are open to the general public:
  • After your guided tour, you will be able to tour the gardens at your leisure, however, there is no self-guide exploration of the museum galleries..
  •  The Café, Family Room, Museum Shop and Coffee Carts will be closed.
  • All school groups will need to depart no later than 1:00 p.m.
  • Beginning January 2017, the Villa will begin extensive renovations, with temporary gallery closures as well as restricted access to the Outer Peristyle.
