1. Close of year procedures: textbook return is tomorrow! Bring your textbooks to my class (unless you've returned them already to the library...they open early typically this time of year...) so that we can return them together. Don't forget to return your textbooks 

2. Work to complete Chapter 12 Sections 1-3, Questions 1-4! I'll be checking those starting today.

3. Vote on end of year movie!

4. Work on your final map project (bring colored pencils or markers!!!! Classroom supplies are entirely depleted.) Here is what needs labeling:

1. Thank you for the Main Event contributions. I had lots of fun and I ran in to an old friend I hadn't seen in 29 years! It was a lovely evening and the food was yummy. Thank you thank you thank you.

2. Designer babies?! Current Events - CRISPR

3. DDC for Rome - All words for both chapters on Rome! We made it to Rome! I've always managed to finish the year with Rome. We did it my dear students! We are almost to the end.

4. Announcement: Because Wednesday is no Homework night the test on Ancient Greece is postponed to Tuesday, May 21 :O

Thank you also to all the generous families that are making it possible for me to check out the Main Event! Woohoo! So grateful!

 

Ancient Greece test will be next Thursday, May 16th so look for the Jeopardy review soon :)

 

And it's official now.... The newest DDC (and the last! I know, you'll miss them...) is assigned and due next Friday. Ancient Rome DDC, all words from pages 323 and 351. Please remember the left column gets the definition. The middle column gets the drawing and the right column is NOT a restating of the definition. Rather, it is an original sentence that uses your key term in an original and creative way.

Great job on the art projects. They are really coming along. Keep up the great work and I hope you are able to focus better during testing with the down time during Social Studies!

 

I have a favor to ask! A very generous parent has offered to pay the balance of my Main Event ticket for next Saturday of any collection that is gathered. So, if your family would like to donate to the price of my ticket, then please bring that money to class with you by next Thursday. I'll give the parents the remaining amount so they can write me a check.

 

Thank you in advance for making it possible for me to attend this event. I've never been but I hear it's a very fun evening. I'll be presenting PEF with pictures of our beautiful murals of Ancient and Early Modern Civilization at the event. Here's a few of the spectacular examples that you've rendered so far!

1. Guidelines: Choose your subject! Draw your subject.

Plan how you will pain your composition. Make sure you have the supplies you will need. You may want to NOT pain. Colored pencils? Pastels? The paint is water soluble but we only have this supply of paint. Once it's gone, it's gone... Our brushes are on the thick side and don't lend themselves well to detail work. You may want to bring finer brushes from home. PLEASE take care of your supplies and rinse all brushes thoroughly during the clean up time.

2. Only pour a little bit of paint (even if mixing colors). The paint you don't use will often be wasted and rinsed out. Try to pour unused paint back in the jugs if possible. To avoid this, however, pour small amounts of paint. Only pour paint into cups when you are ready to paint. Paint one color at a time. 

3. Make sure you have a clear space in the classroom to work with your team.
