Course Description

Hello Students and parents:
 
Welcome to Mr. White's C and C class here at RIS! Students will learn about cyberbullying, Internet security, how to be safe online, keyboarding, and how to create and maintain a positive digital footprint. Assignments range from individual inquiry to project-based learning in collaborative learning groups.  Most work is completed in class using Common Sense Media and Typing.com. Please come back for more content later this week!

Agenda for C and C class: Week 8/Oct. 15-19

1. Common Sense Media Unit 2: A Creator's Responsibilities and Safe Online Talk packets --- group work.
2. Typing.com: Begin Advanced Wrap-up (Due on Wed., Oct 31).
3. Digital Bytes Group project # 2. 

Agenda: C and C per. 5, 6 Week 5

Students will complete Creator's Rights packet and finish their "Happy Birthday" songs on GarageBand by Wednesday, Sept. 19th.
In addition, students, using Typing.com, will be completing Beginner Wrap up.      (by Fri, Sept. 21) and starting Intermediate Wrap-up focusing on improving their speed and accuracy!
Also, students will be working in collaborative learning groups to complete their first Digital Bytes lesson from Unit 1. This will be completed in groups of 3-4 students in class. Due date TBD (To Be Determined).
  
Students will take an interactive test next Tuesday, Sept.18 in the 505 lab to show what they learned in Unit 1 of our Common Sense Media Digital lessons curriculum!

Students need to remember to read all of the instructions/terms/descriptions outlined in the packets, then complete all of the assignments within them! If you have any questions, please see Mr. White.

C & C class agenda for the week of Sept. 10-14

This week students, using Typing.com, will be completing Beginner Review 2      (by Wed., Sept. 12) and starting Beginner Wrap-up focusing on improving their speed and accuracy!
Also, students will be working in collaborative learning groups to complete two more Common Sense Media  packets:
 
1. Cyberbullying
2. Creator's Rights

Typing.com due dates/Test schedule

Beginner Review 1 was due last Friday!
 
Beginner Review 2 is due Wednesday, September 12th.
 
Unit 1 test Common Sense Media on Tuesday, September 18th.

Typing.com

1. We meet in the 505 lab on Wednesdays and Fridays to practice typing skills. 2. Keep up with the lessons with an eye on improving!
3. Please do not try to finish lessons early, do paragraph practice near the bottom or use NitroType or some other program for practice.
4. Complete all lessons in order, do not skip ahead!

StudySync access

Please use portal.pvpusd.net to access StudySync. Students then need to enter their student ID #'s for their usernames and should have a password either created in elementary (if students went to a PVPUSD elementary school), or Mr. Sesay in Room 505 lab at lunch can assist you with a new password! Please see Mr. White for any concerns! Log on! :)

Dear students:
 
Go to the Citizenship and Communications home page. Click on the "Middle School Digital Citizenship" document. Please read, sign/date, print and bring to class on Friday, August 24th!
