Danny Barbara was born and raised in Torrance. He graduated from West Torrance High School before attending University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Education. At , Danny was trained as a creative teacher, educated in developmental and counseling theories, and skilled in programming and leadership. As a leader and pastor in youth ministry for ten years, he refined his abilities as a teacher, gained valuable experience understanding the needs of students, and led a team of adult leaders.
Experience as a substitute teacher and Sylvan Learning instructor, allowed for the acquisition of skills in classroom management and individualized instruction. Danny gained further appreciation for the special needs of students, applying academic and behavioral supports as a one-to-one aide for a child with autism.
After enrolling in the Los Angeles Unified School District Intern Program, he earned a Clear Level II Education Specialist credential; gaining effective, practical experience creating a classroom environment that promoted student success, implementing differentiated instructional strategies, and scaffolding curricular content for diverse learners. Danny completed his Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction at California State University, Long Beach furthering his instructional expertise, as well as gaining an understanding in best practices for creating curriculum that educates the whole student.
Danny then transitioned to PVPUSD as a Resource Specialist teacher at Ridgecrest Intermediate School, collaborating in the math and Language Arts classes to differentiate instruction for students on his caseload. He pursued a credential in Educational Administration from CSULB to further his growth as an educational leader. Danny has served as an Assistant Principal at Palos Verdes Intermediate School and the Associate Principal of Counseling and Guidance at Palos Verdes High School. He looks forward to returning to Ridgecrest as Assistant Principal.
