Social Studies 6 (Period 1)

 The 6th grade Social Studies curriculum is so fascinating! We will look at the earliest evidence of human societies. A long time ago humans stopped being nomadic and settled around rivers where they put down roots and began to develop systems for their cultures. We will look at several of these early cultures from the Stone Age, to Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, the Ancient Kush, India, China, the Hebrews, the Ancient Greeks and the Ancient Romans. We will look for patterns too for how humans adapted to their environment. It will be fun to explore the similarities and differences of these cultures' systems. We will look closely at the geography and the topography that affected how these cultures developed. Many world religions came to life during ancient times and we will gain a deeper understanding for some of the different faiths that are still practiced in the world today! Let's discover, or rediscover, these ancient civilizations together!
