Hi Everyone!
I want to welcome you to 6th & 7th Grade Science at Ridgecrest and introduce myself! My name is Scot Oschman. I’ve lived in Southern California my whole life, growing up in Huntington Beach and attending UCLA for my undergraduate studies, and USC for my MBA and PhD. This will be my 24th year in the classroom, and my 19th year teaching Science at Ridgecrest, with a brief break in the middle to work at Mattel and USC. I have three kids of my own: my oldest daughter Aidynn is starting her sophomore year in college in San Diego, my middle daughter Layne is a senior at Pen High, and my youngest son Owen is a sophomore at Pen High (all of them attended Ridgecrest!). My wife Kerin teaches Kindergarten at Dapplegray Elementary. In my spare time I like to travel, run, read, and take photos. I am so excited to begin our year together! It’s certainly going to be different than we’re used to, but I know we are going to have a ton of fun as we learn and explore science together.

You can find the daily class schedule here. You’ll notice that the schedule for Mondays and Fridays is different from the schedule for Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Wednesday is different from all the rest (Wednesday is a short day each week).
STUDENTS ONLY: CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR FIRST DAY MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, 8/26. Please join the meeting at your class's scheduled time.
We will be using Microsoft Teams for all of our meetings, assignments, and communication. We will be meeting on Teams daily. Your child can log in to Teams and find their classes via their Office 365 Login, or via the PVPUSD Single Sign-on Portal. Teams will be our ‘Virtual Classroom’ while we’re learning from home. For our first day meeting, please click the link above.
For parents, I will be emailing you periodically as well. The only email I have access to is what you entered in Aeries when you registered (the one this email was sent to), so please be sure you have updated the school district with your best email address.
If you have a moment, please feel free to watch this short welcome video with your student: http://m.bixel1.net/s8j79x
I know this is a lot! Science is my passion and this year I will have to find new ways to connect and build community for our class. I’m up for the challenge! I am your partner and I’m here to help in any way I can! Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! The fastest/easiest way for parents to contact me is through my school email account (see below).
Again, I am truly looking forward to a fun-filled, exciting year together. We are going to have a blast learning Science together this year!
Best,
Scot Oschman
